Record #93429:

Numerical modeling of pack ice interaction with ships / H. Hamza, L.Y. Shih.

Title: Numerical modeling of pack ice interaction with ships / H. Hamza, L.Y. Shih.
Author(s): Hamza, H.
Shih, L. Y.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: [Delft]: International Association for Hydraulic Research, Committee on Ice Problems
In: Proceedings, the 9th International Symposium on Ice, 23-27 August 1988, Sapporo, Japan. (1988.), Vol. 1.
Abstract: Distinct element method was used to provide reliable numerical solution to this problem. In-house computer program (DEM2D) was enhanced during course of present work to include environmental driving forces and generation of pack-ice field. Enhanced version was then used to carry out numerical and parametric study to investigate effect of different factors upon expected level of pack-ice forces on ships in different field conditions.
Notes:

In: Proceedings, the 9th International Symposium on Ice, 23-27 August 1988, Sapporo, Japan. Vol. 1. / Hiroshi Saeki, Ken-ichi Hirayama, eds.

Keywords: 624.145.1 -- Floating ice, thrust.
629.12 -- Vessels.
E6 -- Glaciology: floating ice.
