Record #93413:

Flow resistance due to floating partial ice covers / Hans Arisz, K.S. Davar.

Title: Flow resistance due to floating partial ice covers / Hans Arisz, K.S. Davar.
Author(s): Arisz, Hans.
Davar, K. S.
Date: 1988.
In: Eastern Snow Conference. Proceedings. (1988.), Vol. 44th [1987] Annual Meeting (1988)
Abstract: Presents results of study conducted in laboratory flume. Compared to results of previous study on fixed partial ice cover. Conditions of both floating and fixed partial ice covers were studied by varying percentage cover (0 to 100%), depth of flow (127 to 254 mm) and average velocity (0.4 to 1.2 m s⁻¹). Results indicated that maximum resistance occurred between 35-45% and 45-55% cover for floating and fixed partial covers, respectively. Maximum resistance ratio was 1.55 and 1.56 for floating and fixed covers, respectively. Information useful for river managers and engineers.
