Record #93400:

Snow accumulation studies in the central Karakoram, Pakistan / Cameron P. Wake.

Title: Snow accumulation studies in the central Karakoram, Pakistan / Cameron P. Wake.
Author(s): Wake, Cameron P.
Date: 1988.
In: Eastern Snow Conference. Proceedings. (1988.), Vol. 44th [1987] Annual Meeting (1988)
Abstract: Field work during summer 1986 consisted of physical analysis of and sample collection from seven snow-pits, one snow/firn core, and seven fresh snowfall events. Snowmelt samples were analyzed for ion concentrations and oxygen isotope ratios. Some were also analyzed for microparticle concentrations, conductivity, and total beta activity. Preliminary results indicate that both net annual accumulation and source of moisture can be determined from physical and chemical records obtained.
