Abstract: | Proposes method of calculation devised by M.I. Getker and others (Materialy Glyatsiologicheskikh Issledovaniy. Khronika. Obsuzhdeniya, Vyp. 37, 1980, p. 79-84) for use in estimating snow reserves and duration of snow cover in remote or unexplored regions. In South America, few snow surveys have been undertaken, and there is little available data. Method is based on use of data on monthly precipitation and average monthly air temperatures from World Weather Records 1951-60, Vol. 3, 1966, published in Washington. Presents and discusses results. |
