Record #93310:

High-flow air screens reduce or prevent ice-related problems at navigation locks / John H. Rand.

Title: High-flow air screens reduce or prevent ice-related problems at navigation locks / John H. Rand.
Author(s): Rand, John H.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: [Delft]: International Association for Hydraulic Research, Committee on Ice Problems
In: Proceedings, the 9th International Symposium on Ice, 23-27 August 1988, Sapporo, Japan. (1988.), Vol. 2.
Abstract: This technique has been effectively demonstrated at several navigation locks in USA. Consists of improved bubbler system that combines three air manifolds at various locations within lock to control and move ice, allowing normal lock operations even in severe winter conditions.
Notes:

In: Proceedings, the 9th International Symposium on Ice, 23-27 August 1988, Sapporo, Japan. Vol. 2. / Hiroshi Saeki, Ken-ichi Hirayama, eds.

624.145.6 -- Floating ice, control.
626.4 -- Locks, sluices, gates.
E12 -- Glaciology: frozen ground / snow and ice engineering.
