Abstract: Suggests that existing dual systems of state- and indigenous-management of wildlife could be improved by arrangements in which governmental authorities share power with indigenous user groups. Three case studies: Beverly and Kaminuriak caribou management in Canadian Arctic, northern Quebec beluga whale management regime, and Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta goose management regime in Alaska.
