The effects of tidal jacking on ice displacement and strain in the nearshore environment / Ed Stander, Robert M.W. Frederking, J.P. Nadreau.
Title: | The effects of tidal jacking on ice displacement and strain in the nearshore environment / Ed Stander, Robert M.W. Frederking, J.P. Nadreau. |
Author(s): | Stander, Ed. Frederking, Robert M. W. Nadreau, J. P. |
Date: | 1988. |
Publisher: | [Delft]: International Association for Hydraulic Research, Committee on Ice Problems |
In: | Proceedings, the 9th International Symposium on Ice, 23-27 August 1988, Sapporo, Japan. (1988.), Vol. 1. |
Abstract: | Observations at two locations in northern Baffin Bay area of Canadian Arctic, made at half- and hourly intervals for periods up to 24 h, revealed consistent pattern of ice movement. This was related to concomitant lateral shortening of ice cover. These short-term measurements tend to support tidal jacking mechanism as cause of observed movements. |
Notes: | In: Proceedings, the 9th International Symposium on Ice, 23-27 August 1988, Sapporo, Japan. Vol. 1. / Hiroshi Saeki, Ken-ichi Hirayama, eds. |
