Design procedures for detachable platforms located in iceberg infested areas / John Waegter, Anders Holt Madsen, Kai B. Olsen.

Title: Design procedures for detachable platforms located in iceberg infested areas / John Waegter, Anders Holt Madsen, Kai B. Olsen.
Author(s): Waegter, John.
Madsen, Anders Holt.
Olsen, Kai B.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: [Delft]: International Association for Hydraulic Research, Committee on Ice Problems
In: Proceedings, the 9th International Symposium on Ice, 23-27 August 1988, Sapporo, Japan. (1988.), Vol. 1.
Abstract: Simple energy-based model relating kinetic energy of iceberg to iceberg-structure impact are used to estimate global iceberg loads. Disconnection procedures are related to chosen (design) exceedance of kinetic energy so that expected number of detachments and false alarms can be calculated. Data are applied to design considerations for structure off coast of West Greenland, in Davis Strait.
