Record #93066:

A probabilistic treatment of ice loads on columnar structures / K. Izumiyama, H. Kitagawa.

Title: A probabilistic treatment of ice loads on columnar structures / K. Izumiyama, H. Kitagawa.
Author(s): Izumiyama, K.
Kitagawa, H.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: [Delft]: International Association for Hydraulic Research, Committee on Ice Problems
In: Proceedings, the 9th International Symposium on Ice, 23-27 August 1988, Sapporo, Japan. (1988.), Vol. 1.
Abstract: Series of penetration tests with columnar models were carried out and probabilistic analyses of ice-load data were made. Data showed good agreement with Weibull distribution and probabilistic characteristics of ice-load behaviours were expressed by parameters in Weibull function. Ice loads on multi-legged structure are described. Probabilistic considerations show possibility of ice-load reduction which is not expected by deterministic methods.
