Record #93060:

Iceberg-structure interaction: force, energy and probability / Dat Duthinh, Mark K. Fuglem.

Title: Iceberg-structure interaction: force, energy and probability / Dat Duthinh, Mark K. Fuglem.
Author(s): Duthinh, Dat.
Fuglem, Mark K.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: [Delft]: International Association for Hydraulic Research, Committee on Ice Problems
In: Proceedings, the 9th International Symposium on Ice, 23-27 August 1988, Sapporo, Japan. (1988.), Vol. 1.
Abstract: Computational methods aimed at predicting iceberg impact loads on fixed structures follow either energy or force model and must account for random nature of icebergs. Compares these two models and concludes that they give same results. Also develops method to calculate probability distribution of impact loads, which is based on small-scale ice-strength data and data collected by International Ice Patrol and fed into iceberg-motion simulator. Monte Carlo simulation is used together with collision model.
