Abstract: Discusses interactions between sea ice and surfaces of structures; these interactions may be parallel or vertical, and former causes friction. Friction tests between sea ice in Bo Hai (bay on coast of China) and structural materials were carried out for different temperatures, loads, and velocities, and with different types of material. Here, results of interaction between sea ice and concrete are presented and analyzed in terms of kinetic energy.
