Abstract: | Model tests in ice tank, containing level floating ice covered with "snow" made from crushed fresh-water ice. Presence of this snow caused significant increase of resistance and marked change in failure pattern of floating ice, which, in turn, resulted in irregular motion of model. Further tests suggest increased resistance is probably due to compaction of snow. |
