Record #93050:
Strain energy failure criterion for S2 freshwater ice in flexure / David M. Cole.
Title: | Strain energy failure criterion for S2 freshwater ice in flexure / David M. Cole. |
Author(s): | Cole, David M. |
Date: | 1988. |
Publisher: | [Delft]: International Association for Hydraulic Research, Committee on Ice Problems |
In: | Proceedings, the 9th International Symposium on Ice, 23-27 August 1988, Sapporo, Japan. (1988.), Vol. 1. |
Abstract: | Describes development of model for flexural strength of this ice in simple bending in isothermal conditions. Model applies to case of nucleation-controlled failure and addresses temperature and grain-size effects. Analysis applies to regime of relatively fast loading where crack nucleation controls flexural strength. |
Notes: | In: Proceedings, the 9th International Symposium on Ice, 23-27 August 1988, Sapporo, Japan. Vol. 1. / Hiroshi Saeki, Ken-ichi Hirayama, eds. |
Keywords: | 551.32 -- Glaciology. 551.322 -- Ice and snow. 539.42 -- Ice, tensile strength. E4 -- Glaciology: physics and chemistry of ice. |
