Record #93048:

Initial measurements of physical and mechanical properties of ice from Hobson's ice island / Robert M.W. Frederking, Gary W. Timco, M.O. Jeffries, William M. Sackinger.

Title: Initial measurements of physical and mechanical properties of ice from Hobson's ice island / Robert M.W. Frederking, Gary W. Timco, M.O. Jeffries, William M. Sackinger.
Author(s): Frederking, Robert M. W.
Timco, Gary W.
Jeffries, M. O.
Sackinger, William M.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: [Delft]: International Association for Hydraulic Research, Committee on Ice Problems
In: Proceedings, the 9th International Symposium on Ice, 23-27 August 1988, Sapporo, Japan. (1988.), Vol. 1.
Abstract: Salinity/electrical conductivity, oxygen isotope and grain-structure analysis of ice cores recovered from surface of ice island showed ice to be of fresh-water origin. Grain structure was mainly columnar; density ranged from 875 to 900 kg m³. Values for compressive strengths were comparable to values for iceberg ice.
Notes:

In: Proceedings, the 9th International Symposium on Ice, 23-27 August 1988, Sapporo, Japan. Vol. 1. / Hiroshi Saeki, Ken-ichi Hirayama, eds.
