Record #93010:
Measuring snow interception and loss from an artificial conifer / R.A. Schmidt, Robert L. Jairell, John W. Pomeroy.
Title: | Measuring snow interception and loss from an artificial conifer / R.A. Schmidt, Robert L. Jairell, John W. Pomeroy. |
Author(s): | Schmidt, R. A. Jairell, Robert L. Pomeroy, John W. |
Date: | 1988. |
In: | Western Snow Conference. Proceedings. (1988.), Vol. 56th Annual Meeting (1988) |
Abstract: | Device for weighing intercepted snow provided sufficient accuracy to determine interception lost to sublimation over periods as short as 10 to 15 min. Computer control of electronic balance allows compensation for weight variation due to wind drag. Differences in branch flexure and energy balance between real and artificial trees must be considered before device is applied to experiments on sublimation of snow intercepted by forest canopy. |
