Climate simulations for 9000 years before present: seasonal variations and effect of the Laurentide ice sheet / John F.B. Mitchell, N.S. Grahame, K.J. Needham.
Title: | Climate simulations for 9000 years before present: seasonal variations and effect of the Laurentide ice sheet / John F.B. Mitchell, N.S. Grahame, K.J. Needham. |
Author(s): | Mitchell, John F. B. Grahame, N. S. Needham, K. J. |
Date: | 1988. |
In: | Journal of Geophysical Research. (1988.), Vol. 93(D7) (1988) |
Abstract: | Uses atmospheric model coupled to 50-m mixed-layer ocean with prescribed heat convergence and thermodynamic model of sea ice in order to investigate effects of allowing sea-surface temperature and sea-ice extents to change. Annual and diurnal cycle of insolation are included, and evolution of soil moisture and snow cover are determined by model. When representation of Laurentide ice sheet is included, warming in high latitudes is reduced, which suggests that warming may have occurred just after ice sheet collapsed. |
