Record #92952:

Predicting the swimming and diving behaviour of penguins from muscle biochemistry / J. Baldwin.

Title: Predicting the swimming and diving behaviour of penguins from muscle biochemistry / J. Baldwin.
Author(s): Baldwin, J.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers
In: Biology of the Vestfold Hills, Antarctica. Proceedings of the Symposium, Hobart, August 1984. (1988.),
Abstract: Energy metabolism in muscle tissue of seven species of penguins investigated. Good correlation between muscle biochemistry and known diving behaviour of three species permits prediction about behaviour of other species based on biochemical data alone.
Notes:

In: Biology of the Vestfold Hills, Antarctica. Proceedings of the Symposium, Hobart, August 1984 / John M. Ferris, Harry R. Burton, Gavin W. Johnstone, I.A.E. Bayly, eds.

Reprinted from Hydrobiologia, 1988, Vol.165, p.255-261.

Keywords: 598.45 -- Penguins.
591.12 -- Animal respiration.
591.17 -- Animal movement and locomotion.

(*7) -- Antarctic regions.
(*744) -- Princess Elizabeth Land.
