Record #92938:
The annual cycle of heat content and mechanical stability of hypersaline Deep Lake, Vestfold Hills, Antarctica / John M. Ferris, Harry R. Burton.
Title: | The annual cycle of heat content and mechanical stability of hypersaline Deep Lake, Vestfold Hills, Antarctica / John M. Ferris, Harry R. Burton. |
Author(s): | Ferris, John M. Burton, Harry R. |
Date: | 1988. |
Publisher: | Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers |
In: | Biology of the Vestfold Hills, Antarctica. Proceedings of the Symposium, Hobart, August 1984. (1988.), |
Abstract: | Hypersalinity found to have profound effect on physical cycle, through freezing point depression and increased rate of density change with temperature. These changes affect biota, both in relation to osmotic stress and by effectively exposing them to a more thermally extreme environment. |
Notes: | In: Biology of the Vestfold Hills, Antarctica. Proceedings of the Symposium, Hobart, August 1984 / John M. Ferris, Harry R. Burton, Gavin W. Johnstone, I.A.E. Bayly, eds. Reprinted from Hydrobiologia, 1988, Vol.165, p.115-128. |
Keywords: | 556.55 -- Lakes and ponds. 551.464 -- Sea water, chemical properties. C -- Oceanography, hydrography and hydrology. (*7) -- Antarctic regions. (*744) -- Princess Elizabeth Land. |
