Annual cycle of phytoplankton in Ace Lake, an ice covered, saline meromictic lake / M.D. Burch.
Title: | Annual cycle of phytoplankton in Ace Lake, an ice covered, saline meromictic lake / M.D. Burch. |
Author(s): | Burch, M. D. |
Date: | 1988. |
Publisher: | Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers |
In: | Biology of the Vestfold Hills, Antarctica. Proceedings of the Symposium, Hobart, August 1984. (1988.), |
Abstract: | Low diversity population had seven month growth period with low numbers surviving in water column over winter. Peak phytoplankton biomass production by shade adapted species occurred at interface of oxic and anoxic zones in area of substantial nitrogen. Three dominant species vertically stratified over oxic zone. |
Notes: | In: Biology of the Vestfold Hills, Antarctica. Proceedings of the Symposium, Hobart, August 1984 / John M. Ferris, Harry R. Burton, Gavin W. Johnstone, I.A.E. Bayly, eds. Reprinted from Hydrobiologia, 1988, Vol.165, p.59-75. |
