Abstract: | During April and May 1986, glacier was advancing by 10 m d⁻¹. Closure of mouth of fjord was completed on 29 May 1986 and newly-formed lake began filling. Discusses cause of this rapid advance and consequences of closure, which burst out on 7 October 1986. Event is likely to be repeated. |
