Title: | The variation in the ice sheet of Mizuho Plateau, east Antarctica (abstract) / Shinji Mae, Fumihiko Nishio, Hirokazu Ohmae, Shuhei Takahashi, Masayoshi Nakawo, Kunio Kawada. |
Author(s): | Mae, Shinji. Nishio, Fumihiko. Ohmae, Hirokazu. Takahashi, Shuhei. Nakawo, Masayoshi. Kawada, Kunio. Ōmae, Hirokazu. |
Date: | 1988. |
Publisher: | Cambridge: International Glaciological Society |
In: | Annals of Glaciology. (1988.), Vol. 11 (1988) |
Abstract: | Results of five-year programme suggest that thinning of ice, caused by basal sliding due to basal ice melting and now proceeding at 70 cm a⁻¹, started at Shirase Glacier and has been propagating upstream to reach present position. Calculation shows that thinning started 1.5 to 2 ka BP. |
