Record #92487:
Thermal regime of George VI Ice Shelf, Antarctic Peninsula (abstract) / Julian G. Paren, S. Cooper.
Title: | Thermal regime of George VI Ice Shelf, Antarctic Peninsula (abstract) / Julian G. Paren, S. Cooper. |
Author(s): | Paren, Julian G. Cooper, S. |
Date: | 1988. |
Publisher: | Cambridge: International Glaciological Society |
In: | Annals of Glaciology. (1988.), Vol. 11 (1988) |
Abstract: | New data obtained by thermistor chains installed through use of hot-water drill. Observations show that, as ice flows towards northern ice front of this ice shelf, it becomes more temperate in character as it is progressively warmed by heat from sea and by percolation of meltwater. |
Notes: | Annals of Glaciology. Vol. 11 :206 (1988). |
Keywords: | 551.32 -- Glaciology. 551.324 -- Land ice. 551.324.43 -- Land ice, regime and mass balance: George VI Ice Shelf. E5 -- Glaciology: land ice. (*7) -- Antarctic regions. (*726) -- Maritime Antarctic. (*726.3) -- Antarctic Peninsula. (*726.5) -- Antarctic Peninsula, west coast and islands. |
