Abstract: | Possible to establish, over last 160 ka, link between world-wide climatic changes and Vostok dust record presented here. Displays increase of dust concentration of up to 20 times during coldest climatic periods, coupled with presence of larger particles. Increase is attributed to greater areal extent of global tropical aridity during cold periods, coupled with higher efficiency of atmospheric circulation in respect of dust production and transport. |
