Record #92458:

Comparison of results from transit satellite tracking / James McDonald, Ian M. Whillans.

Title: Comparison of results from transit satellite tracking / James McDonald, Ian M. Whillans.
Author(s): McDonald, James.
Whillans, Ian M.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Cambridge: International Glaciological Society
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1988.), Vol. 11 (1988)
Abstract: Large-scale motions and strain-rates over great distances on polar ice sheets are often obtained from tracking of Transit (or Doppler) satellites. Results of different processing techniques for these tracking data are compared using data collected near Ice Stream C. Reduction made with software packages CALIPER, GEODOP V, MAGNET, and micro-processor on Magnavox MX1502 satellite receiver. Orbital data broadcast by satellites are used, as well as more precise orbits obtained afterwards. In addition, calculations are made for single sites individually and for many sites with simultaneous tracking. Results are presented and agree within range of known errors associated with orbits.
