Record #92161:

A study of an active layer soil with an unusual thermal regime, near Schefferville, P.Q.: preliminary results / K.J.L. Stoker, Jr.

Title: A study of an active layer soil with an unusual thermal regime, near Schefferville, P.Q.: preliminary results / K.J.L. Stoker, Jr.
Author(s): Stoker, K. J. L.,
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Ottawa: Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies
In: Student research in Canada's north : proceedings of the National Student Conference on Northern Studies, November 18-19, 1986 = Les recherches des étudiants dans le nord canadien : actes de la Conference nationale des étudiants en études nordiques, 18-19 novembre 1986. (1988.),
Abstract: As result of coarse grain size and mineralogical nature, active layer of Hematite Lake site has unusual thermal properties so that temperatures are influenced by water movement rather than by diurnal cycle. These unusual soil properties dampen soil temperature profile, which affects permafrost table.
