Record #91850:

Light transmittance through snow / Anne W. Nolin, Jeff Dozier, Robert E. Davis.

Title: Light transmittance through snow / Anne W. Nolin, Jeff Dozier, Robert E. Davis.
Author(s): Nolin, Anne W.
Dozier, Jeff.
Davis, Robert E.
Date: 1988.
In: Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1988.), Vol. 69(44) (1988)
Abstract: Abstract of paper to be presented at AGU Fall Meeting, to be held in San Francisco, 6-11 December 1988. Investigations of light extinction through snow can lead to validation of existing snow-albedo models and better understanding of radiative heating and liquid water production within snowpack. Spectral solar transmittance was measured at wavelengths from 0.4 to 0.9 μm through snow slabs from 2 to 11 cm thick with densities of 470 and 550 kg m³. Discussses results.
Notes:

Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. Vol. 69(44) :1204 (1988).

Keywords: 551.578.46 -- Snow cover and snow patches.
535 -- Optics, light.
E10 -- Glaciology: snow and avalanches.
