Record #91747:

Laboratory measurements of the high frequency acoustic properties of sea ice / Kenneth C. Jezek, T.K. Stanton, Anthony J. Gow.

Title: Laboratory measurements of the high frequency acoustic properties of sea ice / Kenneth C. Jezek, T.K. Stanton, Anthony J. Gow.
Author(s): Jezek, Kenneth C.
Stanton, T. K.
Gow, Anthony J.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Mombetsu, Hokkaido: Hokkaido University, Sea Ice Research Laboratory, Okhotsk Sea & Cold Ocean Research Association
In: The Third International Symposium on Okhotsk Sea & Sea Ice; abstracts; 14-16 February 1988, Mombetsu, Hokkaido, Japan. (1988.),
Abstract: Aim was to identify important acoustic scattering mechanisms and absorption processes in laboratory-grown sea ice, in particular to test hypothesis that ice morphology determines acoustic properties. Two classes of experiments: normal incidence scattering from underside of ice as function of frequency and ice type, and acoustic attenuation for propagation along direction of ice growth.
Notes:

In: The Third International Symposium on Okhotsk Sea & Sea Ice; abstracts; 14-16 February 1988, Mombetsu, Hokkaido, Japan / Okhotsk Sea & Cold Ocean Research Association.

Keywords: 551.32 -- Glaciology.
551.326 -- Floating ice.
534.2 -- Acoustics in ice.
E6 -- Glaciology: floating ice.
