Record #91112:

Microcomputer-based image-processing system / Donald K. Perovich, Akira Hirai.

Title: Microcomputer-based image-processing system / Donald K. Perovich, Akira Hirai.
Author(s): Perovich, Donald K.
Hirai, Akira.
Date: 1988.
In: Journal of Glaciology. (1988.), Vol. 34(117) (1988)
Abstract: Inexpensive add-on boards are now available that enable personal computers to be used as digital image-processing systems. Capabilities of one such system are illustrated by two specific cases examining surface characteristics of sea-ice cover and statistical description of sea-ice structure. Unit described digitizes video input into 512x512 array of pixels, assigning grey shade to each from 0 to 255. Key feature of system is that primitive commands of board can be accessed through higher-level programming languages, which permits users to modify system for their own needs.
