Record #91081:

The record of the cold stages / Richard G. West.

Title: The record of the cold stages / Richard G. West.
Author(s): West, Richard G.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: London: Royal Society
In: Past three million years : evolution of climatic variability in the North Atlantic region. Proceedings of a Royal Society Discussion Meeting held on 25 and 26 February 1987. (1988.),
Abstract: Reviews evidence for climatic conditions on continents during cold stages, which is based on several factors: glacial history, vegetational and faunal history, periglacial history, weathering horizons. Whereas glacial history provides evidence of periods of glacierization within cold stages, palaeontology provides evidence of variety of climates within cold stages, as does periglacial evidence, at times when glacierization was not extensive. Considers definition and history of cold stages. Discussion, p. 110-112.
