Record #90575:

On the determination of the average Young's modulus for a floating ice cover / Arnold D. Kerr, Frank Donald Haynes.

Title: On the determination of the average Young's modulus for a floating ice cover / Arnold D. Kerr, Frank Donald Haynes.
Author(s): Kerr, Arnold D.
Haynes, Frank Donald.
Date: 1988.
In: Cold Regions Science and Technology. (1988.), Vol. 15(1) (1988)
Abstract: Method often used for determining average modulus of floating ice, consisting of loading ice vertically with rigid disc, is described, and possible shortcoming is pointed out. This is related to fact that contact pressure distribution between disc and ice is generally not known. To clarify this, comparative study was conducted to establish effect of related pressure distributions on calculated value of average modulus of ice.
