Record #90424:

Ice-core analysis at Site A, Greenland: preliminary results / Richard B. Alley, B.R. Koci.

Title: Ice-core analysis at Site A, Greenland: preliminary results / Richard B. Alley, B.R. Koci.
Author(s): Alley, Richard B.
Koci, B. R.
Date: 1988.
Publisher: Cambridge: International Glaciological Society
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1988.), Vol. 10 (1988)
Abstract: Reports on data collected in field during core drilling and logging. Two 100 m cores recovered. Visible strata record individual storms and years. Pore close-off is between 75 and 80 m depth. Grain-growth rate in isothermal firn and ice is 7.8x10⁻³ mm² a⁻¹, 10 m temperature is -29.5°C, and accumulation rate over last 200 a is 290 mm a⁻¹. Melt events occur once every 40 a and major events can be correlated between cores separated by 20 m.
Notes:
