Record #89055:

On the mechanics of the ramming interaction between a ship and a massive ice floe / Kaj Riska.

Title: On the mechanics of the ramming interaction between a ship and a massive ice floe / Kaj Riska.
Author(s): Riska, Kaj.
Date: 1987.
Publisher: Espoo: Technical Research Centre of Finland
Abstract: Aim of work was to separate ramming interaction into physical constituents which can be studied individually, thus making possible identification of parameters dominating development of ice force due to ramming and ensuing ship response. Study is idealized to case in which unpowered ship collides with ice floe on track normal to edge. Procedure developed is applied to three cases: model and full scale for ramming of m.v. Arctic and repeated ramming of Canmar Kigoriak on existing bow imprints.
Keywords: 624.145 -- Floating ice, engineering aspects.
629.12 -- Vessels.
E12 -- Glaciology: frozen ground / snow and ice engineering.
Location(s): SCO: SPRI-SHF: 624.145 : 629.12
SPRI record no.: 89055
