Abstract: Records from deep-sea sediments show that net glacial build-up occurs relatively slowly, but that ice ages end rapidly, in <10 ka, implying non-linear response to simple Milankovitch theory. To understand last deglaciation, precise chronology of palaeoclimatic signals is needed. ¹⁴C measurements provide reliable ages on different species of foraminifera, and can be used to provide time-scale for ¹⁸O record. In addition, bioturbation model has been used to point out artifacts which could be falsely interpreted in terms of lead and lag in palaeoclimatic record. New deglaciation curve reconstructed.
