Field studies on stress waves in natural snow cover / Robert L. Brown, Andrew Hansen.
Title: | Field studies on stress waves in natural snow cover / Robert L. Brown, Andrew Hansen. |
Author(s): | Brown, Robert L. Hansen, Andrew. |
Date: | 1987. |
Publisher: | Ottawa: National Research Council Canada. Associate Committee on Geotechnical Research |
In: | National Research Council of Canada. Associate Committee on Geotechnical Research. Technical Memorandum. (1987.), Vol. 140 (1987) |
Abstract: | Explosives (0.115 to 0.45 kg) were used to generate stress waves. Pressure waves were recorded by array of semiconductor strain-gauge pressure transducers. Results indicate that pore pressures are not negligible and may be responsible for significant part of stress wave attenuation. Stress wave loses high frequency content quickly, but wave impulse, which is time integral of wave pressure, remained nearly constant as it propagated through distance of 5 cm between two large transducers. |
Notes: | National Research Council of Canada. Associate Committee on Geotechnical Research. Technical Memorandum. Vol. 140 :89-110 (1987). |
