Record #88910:

Field and modelling investigations of acid shock from snowmelt at Guelph / Chalam V. Pakala, H.R. Whiteley.

Title: Field and modelling investigations of acid shock from snowmelt at Guelph / Chalam V. Pakala, H.R. Whiteley.
Author(s): Pakala, Chalam V.
Whiteley, H. R.
Date: 1987.
In: Eastern Snow Conference. Proceedings. (1987.), Vol. 43rd [1986] Annual Meeting (1987)
Abstract: Physically-based model is described which determines transport of pollutants through unsaturated and saturated zones of snowpack for unsteady snow-surface-melt condition. Model has been tested against field observations from plot at Guelph, Ontario, and matched quite well. Sensitivity tests indicated that grain diameter in unsaturated snow is critical factor controlling shape of hydrograph of runoff, and also peak concentration of pollutant in runoff.
