Record #88905:

The chemical, physical and structural characteristics of estuarine ice in Great Bay, New Hampshire: results of a two-year pilot study / Debra A. Meese.

Title: The chemical, physical and structural characteristics of estuarine ice in Great Bay, New Hampshire: results of a two-year pilot study / Debra A. Meese.
Author(s): Meese, Debra A.
Date: 1987.
In: Eastern Snow Conference. Proceedings. (1987.), Vol. 43rd [1986] Annual Meeting (1987)
Abstract: Study conducted during 1983-84 and 1984-85 freezing seasons in order to compare this estuarine ice with Arctic sea ice. Similarities between ice formation include nature of freezing process and ice types produced, nature of incorporation of brine into crystal structure of ice, and drainage of brine. Distribution and concentration of chemical constituents were similar. Factors that affect chemistry of ice in Great Bay that may also affect polar ice include rainfall during freezing season, presence of sediment layers in ice, and flooding of ice by sea water.
