Record #88810:

Correlating ice crystal types with halo types / Walter Tape.

Title: Correlating ice crystal types with halo types / Walter Tape.
Author(s): Tape, Walter.
Date: 1987.
In: Antarctic Journal of the United States. (1987.), Vol. 22(5) (1987)
Abstract: During austral summer seasons of 1984-85 and 1985-86, ice crystals were collected as they fell during halo displays at South Pole. It was hoped to check theoretical correlation of crystal types with halo types; however, many samples contain various types and halo displays may contain various halos. One sample is illustrated in which all crystals are long hexagonal columns; computer simulation of expected halo from these closely matches photographs of actual display.
