Abstract: Site specific approaches are recommended for the successful revegetation of gravel pits. These include 1) minimizing areal extent, 2) improving substrate characteristics for plant growth by erosion control and reuse of topsoil, 3) selecting adapted biological materials, and 4) proper siting of pits to enhance reinvasion by native plant species.
