Hydrologic processes in a ground ice slump, Banks Island, western Canadian Arctic / Antoni G. Lewkowicz, P.C. Graham.
Title: | Hydrologic processes in a ground ice slump, Banks Island, western Canadian Arctic / Antoni G. Lewkowicz, P.C. Graham. |
Author(s): | Lewkowicz, Antoni G. Graham, P. C. |
Date: | 1987. |
Publisher: | Budapest: Akadémiai Kiadó |
In: | Loess and periglacial phenomena : Symposium of the INQUA Commission on Loess: Lithology, Genesis and Geotechnic Definitions and IGU Commission for Periglacial Studies: Field and Laboratory Experimentation. Normandy - Jersey - Brittany, Caen, August 1986. (1987.), |
Abstract: | Hydrologic inputs to this thermokarst-induced landform were dominated sequentially by snowmelt, ice ablation, and precipitation. Evaporation was main method for water to leave slump. Surface discharges followed Arctic nival regime modified in mid-summer by continued low flows derived from thawing of ground ice. |
