Record #88400:

Some aspects of the impact of climate on the development of thermokarst in the low-temperature cryolithozone of northern Yakutiya / I.I. Shamanova, S.Yu. Parmuzin.

Title: Some aspects of the impact of climate on the development of thermokarst in the low-temperature cryolithozone of northern Yakutiya / I.I. Shamanova, S.Yu. Parmuzin.
Author(s): Shamanova, I. I.
Parmuzin, S. Yu.
Date: 1987.
Language: Russian transliteration entered into original records using BGN/PCGN 1947 romanisation of Russian; Cyrillic text in MARC 880 field(s) reverse transliterated from this by automated process; BGN/PCGN 1947 text then upgraded to Library of Congress romanisation.
In: Polar Geography and Geology. (1987.), Vol. 11(4) (1987)
Abstract: Main cause of initiation of thermokarst said to be local changes in conditions of heat exchange between ground and atmosphere. Climatic change merely provides background against which these other changes occur. Thesis demonstrated with reference to Cherskiy in Kolymskaya Nizmennost'. Argues further that Holocene climatic optimum could not have induced development of thermokarst. Translated from Akademiya Nauk SSSR. Izvestiya. Seriya Geograficheskaya, 1988, No.2, p.84-88.
Notes:

Polar Geography and Geology. Vol. 11(4) :306-312 (1987).
