Abstract: Results of field investigations of flora, carried out in 1979. 41 species of plants identified on these two islands (total for archipelago is 47). Topography, geology, and composition of communities described in detail. Author concludes that Zemlya Frantsa-Iosifa belongs to High Arctic tundra zone, rather than "Arctic desert" zone. Translated from Prirodnyye kompleksy Arktiki i voprosy ikh okhrany, Leningrad, Gidrometeoizdat, 1986, p.51-63.
