Record #88380:

Latitudinal variation of the number of muscle fibres in Salpa thompsoni (Tunicata, Thaliacea) in the Southern Ocean: implications for the validity of the species Salpa gerlachei / Beatriz Estela Casareto, Takahisa Nemoto.

Title: Latitudinal variation of the number of muscle fibres in Salpa thompsoni (Tunicata, Thaliacea) in the Southern Ocean: implications for the validity of the species Salpa gerlachei / Beatriz Estela Casareto, Takahisa Nemoto.
Author(s): Casareto, Beatriz Estela.
Nemoto, Takahisa.
Date: 1987.
Publisher: Tokyo: National Institute of Polar Research
In: National Institute of Polar Research. Proceedings of the NIPR Symposium on Polar Biology. (1987.), Vol. 1 (1987)
Abstract: It is suggested that these two species are synonymous and that Salpa thompsoni shows a latitudinal variation pattern in which a number of muscle fibres as well as body length decreases from north to south in Southern Ocean.
