Record #88322:

Tadpole rock (rocdrumlin): a glacial streamline moulded form / Jean-Claude Dionne.

Title: Tadpole rock (rocdrumlin): a glacial streamline moulded form / Jean-Claude Dionne.
Author(s): Dionne, Jean-Claude.
Date: 1987.
Publisher: Rotterdam: A.A. Balkema
In: Drumlin symposium. Proceedings of the Drumlin Symposium/First International Conference on Geomorphology/Manchester/16-18 September 1985. (1987.),
Abstract: Differentiates between glacial landforms entirely sculpted in bedrock (tadpole, symmetrical, and whaleback rocks) and those formed of either unconsolidated deposits (drumlins, drumlinoids, and flutings) or partly consolidated and partly unconsolidated rocks (rock-cored drumlins and crag-and-tail features). Describes characteristics of tadpole rocks, term preferred by author to more usual "rock drumlins". This erosional feature is reliable indicator of direction of ice movement.
Notes:

In: Drumlin symposium. Proceedings of the Drumlin Symposium/First International Conference on Geomorphology/Manchester/16-18 September 1985 / John Menzies, J. Rose, eds.

Keywords: 551.331.5 -- Glacial erosion and protection. Sub-glacial topography.
551.332.54 -- Drumlins.
E7 -- Glaciology: glacial geology and ice ages.
