Record #88319:
Drumlins as part of a glacier bedform continuum / J. Rose.
Title: | Drumlins as part of a glacier bedform continuum / J. Rose. |
Author(s): | Rose, J. |
Date: | 1987. |
Publisher: | Rotterdam: A.A. Balkema |
In: | Drumlin symposium. Proceedings of the Drumlin Symposium/First International Conference on Geomorphology/Manchester/16-18 September 1985. (1987.), |
Abstract: | Presents case that drumlins are bedforms produced by moving ice at glacier/bed interface, and are considered analogous with bedforms produced by other geomorphological processes such as moving water or wind. Suggests they are part of landform continuum that is developed in response to glacier ice moving across deformable or erodable bed materials with range of stress levels determined by ice thickness and rate of ice movement, interacting with range of bed materials. |
Notes: | In: Drumlin symposium. Proceedings of the Drumlin Symposium/First International Conference on Geomorphology/Manchester/16-18 September 1985 / John Menzies, J. Rose, eds. |
Keywords: | 551.332.54 -- Drumlins. E7 -- Glaciology: glacial geology and ice ages. |
