Record #88317:

Critical strength/stress ratios at the ice-bed interface in the drumlin forming process: from "dilitancy" to "cross-over" / Ian J. Smalley, Jan A. Piotrowski.

Title: Critical strength/stress ratios at the ice-bed interface in the drumlin forming process: from "dilitancy" to "cross-over" / Ian J. Smalley, Jan A. Piotrowski.
Author(s): Smalley, Ian J.
Piotrowski, Jan A.
Date: 1987.
Publisher: Rotterdam: A.A. Balkema
In: Drumlin symposium. Proceedings of the Drumlin Symposium/First International Conference on Geomorphology/Manchester/16-18 September 1985. (1987.),
Abstract: Dilitancy hypothesis proposed level of stress for glacier/bed interface which could keep deforming till in motion, but could not initiate motion once dilitant material had come to rest. In this paper, it is proposed that dilitant nature of ground material is not strictly required, although basic idea of critical stress levels can still have validity.
