| Abstract: | Develops continuum theory, treating avalanches of this type as free surface two-phase flow of snow particles and air, coupled by momentum transfer. Numerical solutions are presented for steady plane flow and are compared with measurements from small-scale laboratory simulation of powder snow avalanches using turbulent mixtures of polystyrene particles and water. |
