| Abstract: | Based on material collected during programme of observations of optical properties of atmosphere conducted at Mirnyy scientific research station, January-March 1983. Eruption of Mexican volcano El Chichon on 4 April 1982 was reflected in Antarctic atmosphere seven months later, as was that of volcano Agung (Bali, Indonesia). Thus wind barrier over Antarctic is sufficiently stable, reaches high latitudes and is rarely disturbed by meridional transfers, mainly in spring and summer. |
