Abstract: Evaluates use, during drilling operations, of single cannon, placed on bow of ship, to change drift speeds and direction of small masses such as growlers, bergy bits, and small icebergs, which are difficult to control by means of conventional towing techniques. Cannon, which was tested in 1986 and 1987, includes system for compensating for vessel motion.
