Abstract: Methodology outlined merges reference stress creep model, which is used directly for load conditions below transition from ductile or creep-related failures to brittle fracture, with stress cutoff procedure which is calculated from actual full-scale island measurements. Stress, therefore, increases with strain-rate up to transition where critical stress, normalized by brine volume, represents upper bound ice pressure on structures.
