High-frequency ice floe collisions in the Greenland Sea during the 1984 marginal ice zone experiment / Seelye Martin, Paul Becker.
Title: | High-frequency ice floe collisions in the Greenland Sea during the 1984 marginal ice zone experiment / Seelye Martin, Paul Becker. |
Author(s): | Martin, Seelye. Becker, Paul. |
Date: | 1987. |
In: | Journal of Geophysical Research. (1987.), Vol. 92(C7) (1987) |
Abstract: | Describes nature, form, and frequency of these collisions during summer 1984 over 16-d period. Two types: short-period spike that recurred with period of ocean swell (several hundred observed) and longer-period acceleration event that was not correlated with swell (8 observed). Such collisions are important as they may be related to ice deformation. |
Notes: | Journal of Geophysical Research. Vol. 92(C7) :7071-7084 (1987). |
Keywords: | 551.326.3 -- Floating ice, structure and surface features. 551.326.14 -- Floating ice, movement. 551.32 -- Glaciology. 551.326 -- Floating ice. 539.37 -- Ice, plastic and viscous deformation. E6 -- Glaciology: floating ice. (*60) -- Arctic Ocean and adjacent waters. (*617) -- Greenland Sea and Fram Strait. |
